Job description
The Manufacturing Manager provides leadership in the manufacturing location to ensure an effectively staffed operation working in a professional working environment in order to achieve operational excellence in all matters including but not limited to quality, safety, productivity, positive engagement and cost minimization. The effective Manufacturing Manager rigorously drives continuous improvement which is implemented in a disciplined and methodic manner. The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for the application of approved engineering policies and practices to minimize variability and improve operating performance and quality, reduce waste and delays, and otherwise promote cost reductions and a high level of efficiency. Activities involve capacity planning, staffing and staff development planning, production methods, supervision of salaried and hourly personnel, equipment layout, material handling, and effective facility, manpower, equipment and material utilization.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
(1) Effectively manages staffing and machine resources to ensure the production unit achieves all of its associated production objectives, including but not limited to, production scheduling, quality levels, productivity, factory responsiveness, work-in-process inventory, and cost.
(2) Manages (develops and executes) an effective Tooling Program.
(3) Manages (develops and executes) an effective Repair and Maintenance Plan.
(4) Drives and identifies opportunities for continuous improvement, including leadership to others. Effectively implements continuous improvement efforts with the goal of improving quality, reducing cost and improving overall performance. This includes utilizing all TQM techniques to both reactively and proactively address actual and potential issues preventing SPIROL from achieving World-Class status.
(5) Establishes an annual operating plan for the group which includes, but is not limited to, capacity plans, manpower plans, capital plans including machine rebuilds, and procurement plans.
(6) Manages (develops and executes) effective training and development plans for all levels of employees within his / her organization.
(7) Provides leadership for a safe, positive, and productive work environment for all employees. Ensures compliance of all staff members with respect to company labor policies, work procedures, safety policies, environmental policy, and Code of Conduct guidelines. Addresses any noncompliant situations with a sense of urgency.
(8) Actively communicates to all departments effected by the production organization including subsequent production departments, production planning / scheduling, customer service, sales, and engineering.
May supervise production supervisors, tooling specialists, mechanics, operators, or any combination of manufacturing salaried and hourly personnel which is appropriate for the scope of the manufacturing organization.
Job requirements
RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS:
Advanced education preferably in the areas of Business Administration, Marketing or Engineering. Substantial experience can offset part of the education requirements. Minimum 4 year Engineering Degree preferred.
Information Technology – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) intermediate to advanced
Knowledge of MRP, JIT and general accounting principles.
Demonstration of technical knowledge for production process and equipment.
Leadership qualities with a focus towards the principles of Total Quality Management.
