Job description
The role of the Laminate Operator is to maximise the throughput of the Laminate Cell, understanding and implementing the discipline of continuous improvement within the cell and particularly operating as a daily requirement. The purpose is to develop our departmental skills, using lean manufacturing techniques. The role will be as part of a team, actively pursuing the KPI goals for the Laminate Cell. Working with all relevant departments to ensure the cell is functioning and delivering in accordance with the production plan and achieve the KPIs set out in Quality, Cost, Delivery, People & Safety
Job requirements
The role will require the Laminate Operator to be part of the manufacturing team striving towards the daily targets which include: -
Ensuring the achievement of targets for the team
Understanding and achieving the correct quality standards within the team
Seeking urgent Team Leader support when issues outside of your control are affecting the team’s targets
Contributing to Lean Manufacturing
Assisting the Team leader as and when required
Identify and achieve correct adhesive viscosity prior to application
Set and operate coating machine
Set and operate Auto-Guillotine
Manufacture of Laminate sheet
Loading and unloading of the presses
Issuing materials managing stock levels
Adhere to work to lists and achieve routed times
Operate machinery required in the laminate process efficiently and in compliance with established procedures
Ensure production rates are accurate, adhered to or bettered
Ensure any deficiencies / concerns are reported to the Team Leader
Ensure finished work and work in progress is always placed in correct dropping area
Ensure that all scrap produced is emptied within the shift and is not left for others to empty
Ability to read and understand job sheets, drawings and any accompanying documentation
Use of measuring equipment relevant to the department, most notably Micrometres
Demonstrate clear commitment and ongoing support to the company’s Total Quality performance process
To comply, always, with Health and Safety requirements
Demonstrate flexibility within the Laminate Cell, as well as any other departments within the company
Undertake any other tasks as may be required
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Essential
Previous experience of working in a similar role within a manufacturing environment
Basic understanding of engineering drawings is preferred
Ability to work effectively both independently and within a small team
Ability to work without supervision
Desirable
Previous experience of working within a manufacturing environment
Manual handling experience
Packing and transportation of finished goods
OTHER JOB COMPONENTS
The role will require reaching with hands and arms as well as stooping or kneeling. Work may also occasionally involve lifting of materials and products

Shifts:
Note: we operate a 4 day working week (37.5hours)
Day Shift - Monday to Wednesday - 07:00 to 17:00 & Thursday 07:00 to 16:30
Earlies - Monday to Wednesday - 06:00 to 16:00 & Thursday 06:00 to 15:30
Lates - Monday to Wednesday – 13:00 to 23:00 & Thursday 13:00 to 22:30
